As I'm sure many of you can tell, this strip owes a great deal to Peanuts. A classic setup in Shultz's comic would involve one of the kids going up in front of the class to read a paper, only to be interrupted and made to sit down when it becomes clear that they've done the assignment completely wrong. The similarity here was absolutely deliberate, so you could consider it a subtle tribute.
I could have pulled that off... She just needed to say that it was what she thought has being the most representative of all of the other pieces in there!

The trashcan really is indistinguishable from what they've been calling "art" these days ... well, actually, it's better than a lot of so-called "art" I've seen ...

This whole comic kinda reminds me of the movie Art School Confidential.
Thank god I only have one class or I'd be going fíng nuts
